Dealing with Intrusive thoughts
Very healing when one meditates on the truth that the automatic, random, involuntary, unintentional intrusive thoughts that we experience or notice, are NOT from our real/true identity (I/ME).
How to handle them according to Doctors Winston and Seif?
1)Label these thoughts as "intrusive thoughts 2) Remind yourself that these thoughts are automatic and not up to us. 3)Accept and allow the thoughts into our mind. Do not try to push them away. 4)Float, and practice allowing time to pass. 5)Remember that less is more. Pause. Give ourself time. There is no urgency. 6)Expect the thoughts to come back again 7)Continue whatever we were doing prior to the intrusive thought while allowing the anxiety to be present.
Try Not To:
Engage with the thoughts in any way. Push the thoughts out of our mind. Try to figure out what our thoughts "mean." Check to see if this is “working” to get rid of the thoughts
